Constanta 24 August

Still cannot believe we actually made it all the way to the Black Sea. Woke up to quite a windy day with some light rain. In the afternoon a thunderstorm followed by beautiful weather and a calm sea.
Waved good bye to Dick, Hannes and Eke. Three men in a boat, Jerome Jerome?

The weary but happy travellers having done Berlin, Bamberg, Bratislava, Budapest, Belgrade, Black Sea, not to forget Schluese , Schloss, Schorle and Spritzer. What a journey, so many experiences, so many wonderful people and so many bathrooms.
Sunrise over the Black Sea. Carl and Kevin are going to be experiencing a few more before the trip is over. Leslie will be Istanbul.
A north facing view of Constanta, Tomis Portul.
On the beach. Have been wondering if the water in the Black Sea is salty. Verdict, slightly salty, but more salty than Höllviken, according to Carl. Leslie does not agree, saltier in Höllviken.
This is the same sea that tossed us around like a cork yesterday. Today it is so calm, tomorrow?
Evening walk along the promenade with the Casino in the background. The Casino was inaugurated in 1910. It' s fantastic position attracted the wealthy travellers, but it's glory days were short-lived. It fell into disrepair between the two world wars. During WW II it was used as a hospital. Later  during the soviet time as a restaurant. By 1990 it was so run down it was closed down and has never been reopened or repaired. Lucky for us or Carl would have gambled away all our money, to maybe the boat!
