Ruse - Silistra, 21 August

 Time  to leave Ruse and start the last 3 days journey to the Black Sea

Leslie all packed, ready and eager for the journey! Leaving the English Guest house, my home for a week.

Our  neighbours and travel companions at the yacht club in Ruse, Peter and Aldona. Peter and Aldona in their boat, Beluza, have travelled on and off with Carl and Konstantin  through Serbia and Bulgaria. We will part company after Silistra where we head off towards the Black Sea and they head off to the Delta.  It. Has been wonderful to get to know and to travel with them.

We have been considering buying a dingy since we left Sweden. And as luck would have it, Peter has this extra dingy on board which he does not need. Here carl is test driving the "Emeli"

The friendship bridge somewhere in the distance! The Friendship Bridge connects Bulgaria with Romania. Built on 1954. 

The village Tutrakan on the Bulgarian side of the river.  We notice that the landscape on the Bulgarian side is becoming more hilly. About 10 km before Turakan we passed the kayaks that left Ruse yesterday.

Spotted 7 pelicans an the bank, hope to see more.

Arrived in Silistra just before Peter and Aldona. Peter bought this cat fish from some fishermen and invited us for fresh catfish dinner.

Peter and the catfish. What a fantastic meal he prepared. What could be better than a beautiful warm evening on the Danube with fresh fish prepared by good friends!
