Nettuna and Anzio 13 July, by foot and train.

Went to visit the Sicily to Rome cemetery and memorial run by the War Graves Commission. It was a 10 minute walk from the marina.

7000 American soldiers buried here.

An excellent visitors centre with information on the campaign and more.

Plus 3000 unknown American soldiers buried here.

Took a train to Anzio to visit the Common Wealth cemetery. One South African buried there. A walk of about 2 km from the station.

Then the men, who really are boys, decided that we should walk another 4 km in the burning sun, along a busy road to the other Commen Wealth cemetery, Beach Head. No more cemeteries for me!

Back in Nettuna where we found this square as part of a maze of narrow steets and piazzas. Had a good dinner, risotto and pasta again. Nettuna was full of surprises.
