Bamberg, Bamberg, Bamberg!!! Finally at this milestone. How we have longed for Bamberg. The city with the three faces. But we found lots more in Bamburg. So elegant, so full of life. And lazy gondoliares. Outboard motor instead of a stake. No singing ability Carl reckons.
Bamberg is like Rome, built on 7 hills. One of the hills is st Michaelsberg where there is a kloster. We thought we would see the 7 hills from st Michaelsberg, but only counted to two! On the way up we passed lots of cherry trees...
...... thousands of ripe cherries. This was too tempting so Carl stole a whole bag of cherries from the klostergarden.
And this is St Michaelsberg, one of the seven hills. Bamberg are proud of the fact that the only pope not buried in Rome was buried here. Pope Clements II is buried in Bamberg.
Bamberg is referred to as little Venice, this is why.
And so after a short cultural interlude we concentrated on getting through the 8 breweries. We did one yesterday and 5 today. Started with Ambrosia and ate a Pflammkuche with bratwurst and sauerkraut! Maybe an idea for a pizza?
Next stop Mahls brewery about 40 minutes walk away, so built up quite a thirst.

About 20 metres down the round we found the Kleenmann Brewery.
Back to the city centre to Spezial brewery where thy also brew Rauchbier. And on the opposite side of the street, FĂ€ssla Brewery.
Not bad for a days work! I, Leslie, will not be drinking beer for another 6 months!
