Fishstüberl-Schlögen, 12 July

Although staying at the "Fischstüberl" was a wonderful experience, with the position right on the river, the fantastic fish dinner, the traditions connected with the 50 year party and even all the tourist boats, we were happy to make an early start after a restless night trying to sleep through the swells caused by the passing barges.

The left bank of Passau....
And the right bank.
So a biscuit breakfast while waiting for the lock to open. This is Jochenstein, the last lock in Germany.

A little chapel and a statue on a rock as you leave the Jochenstein lock. This is a reminder of Isa. As far as we can understand Isa was a mermaid, but stand to be corrected.

Hafen Schlögel really lived up to it's reputation. A beautiful spot where the Danube makes a 180 degree turn.
Looking forward to entering the Hafen Schlögen, one of the best marinas in Austria, and maybe the last comfortable one.
Along we passed this boat...a copy of a galärslavskepp
We read that we would recognise a village called Obermühl by the Getreidespeicher, the only one left in the village. We looked up " Getreide" in the dictionary and in Swedish it means spannmål, grain. So the Getreidespeicher must be a grain storage place?

A thirty minute walk up the hill is rewarded with this few of the Schlögrner Schlinge. And a view of Carl.
We Met a pleasant couple from a town nearby Linz. They have their Bayliner at the hafen and spend every weekend there. Turns out the the man, Robert, also travels often to Kazakhstan on business!
