Beilngries-Regensburg, 7 July

We have been receiving warnings of very bad weather forecasts starting with a bit if rain on Monday and heavy rainfalls from Tuesday so we have decided to get through the last locks on the Main-Donau- kanal. We plan to head for Marina Saal, apparently a big marina, with refuelling possibity.
Our newfound friends at the Yachtclub were all there to wave us off at 8 in the morning. Leaving Beilngries we tried to get a photo of the castle on the hill, but we're not so successful.
A town along the way. Architecture is changing.

Approaching Europe's longest wooden bridge. Built as a tribute to the canal.

Another view of the bridge. It is only for pedestrians and bikes.

We are coming to an end....

The last lock on the Main-Donau-kanal. Kelheim.
Kelheim victory-Halle

The Danube joins the canal and immediately we notice that we are moving much faster. We are moving downstream and enjoy watching the barges chugging their way upstream (like we did on the (Rhine)
We have 2411 km to go to the Black Sea. Is this possible??
The Marina Saal turned out to be rather disappointing so with filled up with diesel and after a weather check (it has still not rained) with decided to travel to Regensburg.
Another two locks and we arrived at Regensburg, to find that there was no place at any of the three Motor/Yachtclubs situated on the southern arm of the Danube. Eventually a hafenmeister took pity on us and with help of Roland, one of the local members of the Yachtclub, we were given a place. We might stay for three  days depending on when the rain comes. Carl has to swim in every sea, lake and river he visits so into the Danube he dives.
We have a lovely spot on the river. Behind the swimming Carl battling against the current, we have a view of the cathedral which is beautifully lit up at night time.
Today we have been "on the road" or water for exactly two months plus that we have reached the Danube. Cause for a celebration with bubbly and 14 bratwurst.
We found the little carp stuck on one of the shelf of the pollards  in the lock. After photographing it we helped it back into the water.

The best place for  a kloster is at the top of a rock
The best place for a rock climber is on a vertical rock face
We spotted this climber making his way up the rock.
