Brohl-Koblenz, 16 June

Early morning departure from Brohl. Marina is next to Brohl Qvelle, one of the mineral water companies in the area. Mineral water due to porous volcanic rock. The beer here is called Vulcan. Heard from some fellow passengers on the "Vulcan express" that beer in Bonn is called Bölsch as opppsed to the beer in Köln which is called Kölsch
Leaving Brohl, with Brohl Qvelle in the background.
On the way from Brohl there is a cold water geyser, which sprouts water 60 metres up in the sky every 100 minutes. We could hear the geyser roaring as we passed it. But unfortunately the trees are too big and obscure the view of the geyser fountain. Cold water geyser is caused by carbon-dioxide.
A place called Rosenberg along the Rhine. Jan's ancestors?
Neuwiedt which we skipped, cement factory and closed down nuclear power station. Closed down 2013 after Fukushima.
Schloss Bendorf, now a hotel.
Entering Koblenz where the Mosel meets the Rhine. Die Deutcher Ecke.
Pegelhaus
The top mark is from 1651

Kaiserin Königen Augusta, wife of Wilhelm I. Together with the palace gardener she designed a beautiful garden promenade all along the river. At the start of the Industrial revolution she understood the need for green areas for the working people. She even included play areas.
Carl in Augustas garden with the marina in the background. The trees are beautiful and enormous. I suppose they must be about two hundred years old
.
A quiet moment with a glass of wine at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. We reached the fortress by cable car over the Rhine.
View of Die Deutche Ecke from the fortress.
After an exciting match between Germany and Portugal, a man needs his supper.
